The Art of Gua Sha: A Daily Ritual for Radiant Skin
Facial Gua Sha is more than a beauty trend—it’s a deeply restorative self-care practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Known for promoting circulation, reducing puffiness, and encouraging lymphatic drainage, Gua Sha helps release tension held in the muscles of the face and neck, while also encouraging a healthy, glowing complexion.
How to Start Your Gua Sha Ritual
Always begin on the neck to open lymphatic drainage pathways. Glide your tool in upward and outward strokes, repeating each 3–5 times. Wiggle slightly at the end of each stroke to stimulate flow.
Tool Tips
- Curved Side: Use on cheeks, forehead, and neck.
- Divots: Hug the jaw, spine, and brow bone.
- Flat Edge: Sweep across large areas like the neck and décolleté.
- Ridges: Use gently over fine lines or areas of dullness.
Technique Tips
- Prep: Warm 3-5 drops of a fine facial serum –like our ORO ROSA – in your palms and press into clean skin.
- Pressure: Use light pressure for lymphatic work, firmer for muscle tension.
- Angle: Hold the tool at about 15 degrees to the skin (nearly flat).
- Support: Use your free hand to hold skin taut when needed.
Make it a Daily Ritual
You don’t need to spend 20 minutes a day—just 5 minutes focused on the neck and jaw can make a difference. Gua Sha is most powerful when practiced regularly. Think of it as skincare and self-care in one beautiful motion.
